As the second poorest country in Central America, Honduras is currently facing a water crisis that demands attention. Over 1.5 million people in Honduras still live on $1.90 per day or less, which is the highest rate of extreme poverty in Latin America and the Caribbean behind Haiti. Due to the locations of poorer communities, they struggle with the effects and environmental events that accompany climate change (World Bank).

Over 500,000 people in Honduras lack access to reliable, clean drinking water, and public resources to mitigate this crisis are scarce. We began our involvement in Honduras in 2019, and have partnered with Lunches For Learning to provide LifeStraw Community water filters in four primary schools in the Nacaome Valley.
